Never Too Busy

e2I sensed the Spirit-Presence
stirring in my heart.
“May I come in”” the
Presence seemed to say,
and then it came.

We shared secrets,
mine from musty darkness,
the Spirit’s from blinding light.
We spoke of many things,
of this day and tomorrow,
of joy and sorrow, life and life again.

We spoke of death—
my death.

Feeling my heart’s tremor,

the Presence said,
“You needn’t hurry;
my world can wait.”
At last I stammered softly,
But I still need your visits;
may we do this again?”
“I’m never too busy,” the Spirit said.
